ECONOMICS OF PASSION FRUIT PRODUCTION
The tentative economics of passion fruit production is furnished below assuming that the economic life span of the crop is five years. The estimated total expenditure for first year is 1, 92 thousand and around 40 thousand for the succeeding years. The yield is assumed to be around three tons during first year increasing around 10 tons per hectare during 3rd year and slowly declining to 5 tons per hectare during fifth year. At an average price of ₹ 30/kg, the income from fruit during the first year is 90 thousand increasing to 3 lakh during third year and declining to 1.5 lakh during fifth year.
